Germany faces a serious challenge in organ donation. Around 8,500 people are waiting for life-saving transplants, yet less than half of the population carries a donor card, despite 84% supporting the idea. While other countries have integrated organ donor status into driver's licenses, Germany has yet to implement such a solution. Together with Mastercard, we developed the Life Donor Feature—an innovative way to add organ donor status directly to a Mastercard. In partnership with VIMpay, this feature launched to make registering as a donor easier and more accessible than ever. The campaign featured Elmar Sprink, who received a donor heart after suffering two cardiac arrests. Just two years later, he competed in the Ironman in Hawaii, showing the incredible impact of organ donation. His story became the emotional centerpiece of a campaign that raised awareness and inspired thousands to take action.
